Magpas

Picture the scene; it’s dark, it’s cold and you’re trapped in your car. Your injuries are so severe you need specialist medical care. Thankfully, you’re in the East of England where Magpas provides the UK’s only dedicated night time air ambulance with our highly trained doctors and paramedics, working together to save your life. We have over fifty highly qualified medical professionals, who volunteer their time to work with Magpas. We get there by car or by helicopter, we'll get there anyway we can!

Please take literally 50 seconds to watch the video clip below, which demonstrates the incredible importance of Magpas.

What you might not realise is the NHS does not provide this service; Magpas - The Emergency Medical Charity does. So wherever you need us in the Eastern region you can rely on us to be there for you, night and day.

We’ve been saving lives for the past 40 years and have come to the rescue for over 50,000 people. Now we need your help. Our doctors, paramedics, our emergency land vehicle, our helicopter, drugs and medical equipment cost just over £1,500 for a day and night shift. Magpas Helimedix are dedicated to saving lives but they can only continue to do so, with the public’s continued support.

Like a lot of charities, Magpas is surviving on a month by month basis. People have been very generous, but we’re trying to encourage on-going donations. We’re also launching the Magpas Lottery as an incentive; the more people who join - the more lives we can save and in turn money is raised for Magpas on a regular basis.

Thanks to your support, the money you raise could pay towards:

• £66,000 to fully fund one training Doctor

• £21,000 to keep the helicopter flying for one month

• £15,000 to fuel and maintain our emergency land vehicle for the year

• £3,000 to provide two months of medical consumables, including lifesaving drugs, bandages and dressings

• £2,500 to purchase five flame and chemical retardant uniforms and boots for our Doctors and Paramedics

• £600 on average to fly one emergency medical mission with the police helicopter

It would be wonderful if you could help spread the word about Magpas. We are a very leanly run organisation and our team make every effort to attend all the fundraising events held all over Cambridgeshire and the East of England. If you would be interested in joining our Magpas volunteers, please don’t hesitate to contact us on: (01480) 371 060.

Why not find 3 new charities to pledge your support and pennies to, there are lots of small charities on ploink who'd love a little help :o)

Our first charity of the month for 2012 is the Odysseus Foundation. They are the only UK charity addressing the prevention and detection of breast and cervical cancer in developing countries and socially excluded communities.

All donations to them are matched in value during January, meaning that every time you donate any amount between 99p and £10 we donate exactly the same amount!
